Ann Allerhand-Leibowitz I first came to the CBC with my daughter 10 years ago after a horrific loss. I was so impressed with the center and how important it was for these children to feel that they weren't alone or different, that I asked if there was any way I could stay involved as a volunteer. 9 years later, I am one of the lead facilitators for the Adult Group. I have seen the center grow and the impact we have had on so many families. Learn more about the CBC on our Homepage Check out others involved with the CBC... |
Children come to the Children's Bereavement Center (CBC) with their lives turned upside down by loss: 8-year-old Sarah lost her mom to a brain aneurysm, 16-year-old Luis's brother died in a car crash and Ricky, age 12, lost his dad to suicide. For ten years the CBC has been a haven to children and teens like Sarah, Luis and Ricky. Each week in peer support groups, hundreds of kids and parents who have suffered loss discover they are not alone. Through sharing stories, playing together and listening to one another, they find healing, caring and hope for the future. CBC Group Services are free to Participants. CBC receives neither government support, nor insurance reimbursement. Instead, the CBC depends on the awareness and generosity of the South Florida community to give our children the opportunity to heal and feel whole again. Since we are strictly run by donations, any help you can give to our commuunity's children and families at this critical juncture in their lives would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
