I have been involved with the CBC for about 4 years. After the satisfying experience of working on the committees for the "Harry Potter"
and "Splitsville" fundraisers, I have joined the board of directors. I look
forward to working towards the growth and progress of this essential
organization.

Dear friends and family,
We must remember that while many things slow down during challenging times like these, personal tragedy does not.
I was initially approached by Mindy Cassel to play with the band at the
Children's Bereavement Center's annual "Rockin' on the Green" fundraiser in 2005. I seldom pass up a chance to play guitar and sing, and after watching the video presentation and hearing the moving testimonies of CBC participants that evening I knew I wanted to be a part of the CBC in our community and beyond.
On a personal note, I witnessed the tragic loss of my brother and
grandmother in a house fire when I was 14 years old. If I'd had the kind of
support at that time that the CBC provides today, my experience would have been a very different one. The work of the CBC is essential to the health of youngsters who in the formative stages of life must come to terms with the intimate, abstract emotions they are experiencing after the loss of a loved one. Such a center did not exist when I was young, nor does it exist in most places today. An optimal model for other cities, the CBC has grown since its inception 10 years ago to serve 300 children and families each month. Groups are provided FREE OF CHARGE and families are welcome to participate for as long as they like.
I urge you to consider supporting the CBC. Your contribution (any amount helps) will ensure healing and a healthy perspective at a pivotal time in a young person's life.
