After retiring from my 30 years of service as a medical/surgical social
worker at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Miami, FL, I began volunteering at the Children's Bereavement Center. I am now one of the Lead Facilitators for the teen group and have found these past six years of volunteering to be meaningful and fulfilling.
The CBC is a safe and comforting port in the storm for so many children, teens, and their families. The efforts of the participants to be proactive in continuing on, while recognizing the huge impact each of their losses has posed individually and as a family, are so commendable.
